Continue reading to learn how Red Light Therapy helps your body.
Red light therapy is a non-invasive therapeutic treatment that uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared (NIR) light to stimulate the body’s cells at a deep level. When this targeted light is absorbed by the mitochondria—the energy “powerhouses” of cells—it increases the production of ATP (cellular energy), which helps cells function, repair, and regenerate more effectively. This process can lead to benefits such as improved circulation, reduced inflammation, enhanced collagen production, faster tissue healing, and support for recovery, pain relief, and overall cellular health. Platinum Therapy Lights devices use a multi-wavelength spectrum optimized to match the body’s absorption profile, making the therapy more effective and clinically relevant.
Platinum Therapy Lights’ BIOMAX series uses a patent‑pending multi‑wave R+|NIR+ spectrum that delivers seven specific wavelengths — 480 nm, 630 nm, 660 nm, 810 nm, 830 nm, 850 nm, and 1060 nm — all in one device. This combines multiple red and near‑infrared wavelengths that are each associated with distinct tissue depths and therapeutic benefits, from skin health to deeper muscle and cellular effects.
✓ Higher power output = deeper, faster results - Platinum Therapy Lights deliver high irradiance, allowing more energy to reach deeper tissues for faster, stronger benefits
✓ Clinical‑grade design and certification - Platinum Therapy Lights are FDA Class II medical devices with ETL, UL, CE, and ROHS certifications, ensuring safe, consistent, and reliable therapeutic performance.
480 nm (Blue Light) – Supports skin clarity, reduces acne-causing bacteria, and promotes a balanced complexion.
630 nm (Red Light) – Penetrates superficial skin layers, stimulates collagen and elastin production, improves skin tone and texture, and aids in surface healing.
660 nm (Red Light) – Slightly deeper than 630 nm; enhances cellular energy (ATP), reduces inflammation, and promotes wound healing and tissue repair.
810 nm (Near-Infrared) – Penetrates deeper tissues, supporting muscle recovery, joint health, circulation, and pain relief.
830 nm (Near-Infrared) – Targets deep cellular and connective tissue, promoting anti-inflammatory effects, tissue regeneration, and overall cellular repair.
850 nm (Near-Infrared) – Deep penetration for muscle, tendon, and joint recovery, also boosts circulation and cellular metabolism.
1060 nm (Near-Infrared / Deep Tissue) – Reaches the deepest tissues, supporting cellular regeneration, mitochondrial function, and systemic healing.

Because this is an electrical devices, there are EMFs, but the level and risk are very low when used as intended. Platinum Therapy Lights emit extremely low EMFs, and at typical treatment distances (8–24″ from the panel), the exposure is effectively negligible. The devices are designed with shielded components and low-EMF engineering, which minimizes any electromagnetic fields while the unit is in use. Because the light is non-ionizing, it does not carry the risks associated with UV radiation. Overall, EMF exposure from these devices is far lower than everyday electronics like phones or laptops, making red light therapy sessions safe and suitable for regular use.
Red light therapy is generally very safe, but clients with these conditions should consult their healthcare provider before starting treatment.
- Pregnancy – should consult a healthcare provider first
- Photosensitive conditions – e.g., certain skin disorders or conditions that react to light
- Medications that increase light sensitivity – such as some antibiotics, retinoids, or chemotherapy drugs
- Epilepsy or seizure disorders – due to bright flashing or pulsing lights
- Active cancer – especially in areas being treated (consult your doctor)
- Recent surgery or open wounds – may require professional guidance before use
- Severe cardiovascular conditions – consult a physician before use
- Children under 16 – thermoregulation and eye protection concerns
- Eye sensitivity – always use recommended protective eyewear if indicated
- Fever or acute illness – postpone sessions until recovered
Thyroid conditions are not an absolute contraindication, but medical consultation is recommended before exposing the thyroid to red/near-infrared light.
Areas of concern should be directly exposed to the red light.
We have 2 towers available: 1 is in the Salty Sweat Room (behind the door) to be used with clients standing or sitting on a small bench. During your session, it is your private room and you can disrobe at your discretion to expose the area of concern.
The second tower is a portable tower that can be used during a massage session. The therapist will start with the red light tower on the area of concern while they work other areas.
Clients should avoid lotions, oils, makeup, or other body products before red light therapy because these substances can block light absorption into the skin, reducing the therapy’s effectiveness. Some products may also reflect or scatter the light, preventing deep tissue penetration, or break down under heat and light, which could irritate the skin.
Specific pathologies should be consulted with your doctor. Below are general guidelines.
General wellness & maintenance : 3–5x per week 10–20 minutes : Supports overall health, circulation, and cellular energy
Pain relief & inflammation : Daily or every other day 10–20 minutes : Focus on affected areas until improvement.
Muscle recovery & athletic performance : 3–5x per week 10–20 minutes : Use post-workout or on sore muscles for faster recovery.
Skin health & anti-aging : 3–5x per week 10–15 minutes : Targets face, neck, or specific skin areas; start with shorter sessions if sensitive skin.
New to red light therapy : 2–3x per week 5–10 minutes : Gradually increase duration as your skin and tissues adjust.
First Week (1–3 sessions)
Many clients notice mild warmth, relaxation, and improved circulation.
Some may feel temporary reduction in minor aches or stiffness.
2–4 Weeks (6–12 sessions)
Pain and inflammation often decrease noticeably.
Skin may start to look brighter, smoother, and more hydrated.
Muscle recovery and energy levels may improve.
4–8 Weeks (12–20 sessions)
Collagen production and skin texture show visible improvements.
Chronic pain, joint stiffness, or post-exercise soreness often significantly reduce.
Cellular energy and overall wellness benefits become more apparent.
8+ Weeks (continued use)
Cumulative benefits stabilize: enhanced circulation, improved skin, faster recovery, and general wellness.
Sessions can shift to maintenance frequency for long-term results.
Note: Individual results vary based on health status, frequency of sessions, and targeted areas. Consistency is key—most benefits are cumulative over time.
