Halotherapy, also known as salt therapy, is a natural, non-invasive wellness treatment that uses microscopic salt particles suspended in the air to support respiratory, skin, and overall health. When inhaled, the salt can help clear mucus, reduce inflammation, improve lung function, and promote relaxation. The salt also has antimicrobial properties, benefiting the skin and immune system.

The word “halo” comes from the Greek word halos, which originally meant “salt” or “salted area”. Halotherapy has its roots in the 19th century “salt caves” of Eastern Europe, particularly in Poland, Russia, and Ukraine, where people observed that miners working in salt mines had fewer respiratory problems and healthier skin. This led to the development of “speleotherapy”, the practice of spending time in salt-rich environments for health benefits.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect for my first session?

Sit back. Relax. Just breathe. It really is that easy.

How salty will I get?

The micron particles of salt are designed to be inhaled. Although some people report tasting the salt on their lips or feeling a slight coating on their skin, you won't be coated in salt.

What do I wear?

If you are partaking in a salt-only session for respiratory, whatever you wear for the day is fine. If you are using salt therapy for a skin condition, you will need to expose that area.

How long until I feel the efects?

Most people will feel the effects within 24 hrs. Coughing, sneezing, post nasal drip and runny nose during your treatment is quite common. For chronic conditions, some people may need a few treatments to start to feel mucus and congestion move.

how often should i use halotherapy?

Some people notice subtle changes after a few sessions, while others benefit most from consistent use over several weeks. Individual responses vary based on health history and exposure consistency.
